Hoonah High School Book Shop 

In 2004, Hoonah Schools started their book shop at Icy Strait Point.  Run by local students the shop offers a variety of books focusing on Alaska, Alaska History, the history of Hoonah, The fishing industry, Native Tlingit Culture, the Alaskan Wilderness and more.   Teachers and students work together to pick the inventory.  Students working in the shop learn about business basics including point of sale transactions, cash handeling, inventory, ordering, receiving, basic book keeping and more.   Icy Strait Point has joined the shcool to help focus on the business aspects of the project for the 2012 season and we all are looking forward to a profitable year.  All profits from this store to directly to Hoonah Schools activity programs.
